WHAT IS A CAT CAFé?
Picture this… you walk into your favorite café for a coffee, tea, or maybe a delicious snack and as you are ready to sit down to enjoy, you notice a wall of glass. Curious, you approach to peer through the window and discover guests playing with lovable cats and kittens – all available for adoption!
This is a cat café, friends. You get the perfect combination of a stellar coffee bar and an amazing opportunity to come and hang out in a relaxing space with cats. While no reservations are needed to grab a drink or tasty treat in the café, visits to the Cat Lounge are limited as we don’t want to overwhelm these majestic creatures. Reservations are suggested, so be sure to plan your visit now!
How it works
Step 1
Book a visit at our reservations page and choose your date & time to visit the Cat Lounge (reservations are not required in the café).
Select the number of people that you are paying for. Each person must sign up. There are only 12 people allowed in the Cat Lounge at a time.
Pay the visit fee which helps to take care of the kitties and maintain the space for a purr-fect experience. Don’t forget to sign the online agreement!
As of now, we do not offer a discount for children. Children 10+ are welcome to visit the Cat Lounge. Children 10-13 must be accompanied by an adult during the entire experience. Visit our FAQ page for more information.
Step 2
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
Head to the coffee bar to check-in
Order a fine espresso or specialty drink paired with a delicious pastry. Purrista is proud to feature locally sourced coffee and baked goods.
While you wait until your designated time to head into the Cat Lounge — enjoy the café, stand by the cat-viewing picture window, or check out our available merchandise.
Step 3
Enter the Cat Lounge at your designated time and hang out in a relaxing space with adoptable cats.
We are asking you to remove your shoes due to snow, salt and dirt that may be harmful to the kitties. Bring some slippers or socks!
As we don’t want to overwhelm these majestic creatures, visits to the cat area are limited so we strongly encourage reservations.
We’ll do our best to allow walk-in visitors, but there is a chance you won’t be able to get in without a wait.

Because You Care, Inc., a no-kill shelter in Erie, PA, is a 501(c)3 animal rescue and pet adoption organization that works through a network of foster homes and their pet adoption center in McKean. Since 1982, Because You Care has been dedicated to the welfare of small animals. This organization takes in abandoned and abused cats and dogs, helps them heal – both physically and emotionally – and then finds them loving "forever" homes.
